SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR TOURING THE ISLAND
The island beaches:
Naxos offers amazingly nice beaches like Agia Anna and Agios Prokopios (5Km) with bars, discos, restaurants and accommodations.
Mikri Vigla (18Km), Kastraki (17Km), Pyrgaki (21Km), finest beaches with crystal clear water, fine white sand, restaurants and a few hotels.
Inside Naxos:
Chalkio (17Km) flooded with green, traditional houses, Venetian castles and very quiet. Moni (23Km) with the church Panagia Drossiani, a byzantin monastery from the 6th century. Filoti (21Km), the biggert village of Naxos in the center of the island. Aperathos (35Km), with beautiful view and popular local color and the archeological museum. Apollonas (50Km) which is situated in the rear side of Naxos, a touristic center with good shores and beaches.
All these villages are on the same main road of the island.
The Upper and lower Patamia is suitable for a daily excursion and Melanes (10Km) is an ideal stop to visit the famous "Kouros".
