After having walked the beaches, one day you make a walk between the old cedar trees, or make a walk up the hill to the area where you have a marvellous view to the sea and the beaches deep below.

Up there, about half an hour walk up the hill from Orkos Village, you will find old stone houses, wells and farming terraces which all have been left a generation ago, and where you can walk for hours without meeting anybody.

Or you may choose to walk half an hour through the farmers field on sandy roads sheltered by bamboo, to an old Byzantine chapel Ag. Matheos, based on an even older basilica, which again was based on the place of a classic temple.

Next to it you will see Paleo Pirgo, a rest of a tower-wall made of massive stone blocks, from about 600 BC. Or maybe you would like to walk another half an hour from the chapel, up to the next village Tripodes with the windmills? And to the sunset a well deserved sundowner in Orkos? And maybe later on some Greek dances?

Please share your opinion of it with other travelers. Write a review!
